The Praetor of RSE International is an appointed position, selected by members of the Continuing Committee.

 

In RSE International, the Praetor functions as the legal head of the organization, as President and Chief Executive Officer. S/he is responsible for the overall administration of the Imperium and its funds (including records). The Praetor alone has the power to distribute funds, and holds the final decision on all matters concerning the Imperium.

 

The Praetor is the presiding officer of the Continuing Committee.  S/he is is charged with the final "say" in policymaking and funding in the Imperium.

 

The current Imperial Praetor, Selessa i-hiifven’anhelae t’Rahaen’fvil (Eivriha'al), has served as Imperial Praetor since 2001. Before that, she had served the Star Empire as Imperial Subpraetor, as well as High Ambassador (now referred to as the Diplomatic Coordinator).

Praetors are often military heroes with long and glorious careers, but not all Praetors come from influential families. A number of Praetors come from humble beginnings, although have had at least the support of several major Houses and factions to gain and maintain support.

 

The most important role of the Praetor is acting as an inspirational model for all Rihannsu. The Praetor is the living embodiment of the Star Empire and D'era- a living, breathing person whom all Rihannsu soldiers and citizens can swear their loyalty and allegiance. 

 

The Office of the Imperial Praetor is far more important than any one individual.  With it, Praetors often give up the use of their individual names upon their appointment(s). The Praetor is often simply referred to as "The Praetor". The Praetor has great influence over popular Rihannsu culture. Fashions and activities at the Praetorian complex become trends throughout the Empire.
